ABU ENACTUS Team Wins $2,000 Grand Prize at Crosspoint Innovate 2025 |LAGOS EYE NEWS
The ENACTUS team of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has emerged the winner of the Crosspoint Innovate 2025 competition, clinching the grand prize of two thousand dollars ($2,000).
The entrepreneurship-focused competition, which aims to celebrate and empower Nigerian innovators, was held in Lagos.
ABU’s winning project, titled ‘Plastic to Paint’, was led by Daniel Chukwueloka Monyei. The project, which offers an innovative solution to plastic waste by converting it into eco-friendly paints and coatings, impressed the judges with its originality, potential impact, and sustainable business model.
This achievement was formally reported to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, by the Faculty Advisor of ENACTUS ABU, Prof. M.K. Aliyu, mni.
Prof. Aliyu, while presenting highlights of the team’s journey, noted that Plastic to Paint was among two ABU entries—alongside Pub Polish—selected among the top 26 most promising student-led enterprises in Nigeria. After a highly competitive selection process involving numerous applicants nationwide, Plastic to Paint advanced to the top five finalists, eventually securing the coveted first place.
He commended the unwavering support of the University Management, describing the victory as a platform for deeper institutional collaboration and further student empowerment.
Prof. Aliyu reaffirmed ENACTUS ABU’s commitment to driving social innovation, empowering students, and representing the university on both national and global innovation stages.
