Finnish Prosecutors Charge Simon Ekpa with Inciting Terrorism |LAGOS EYE NEWS
Finnish authorities have officially charged Nigerian separatist leader, Simon Ekpa, with inciting terrorism online between 2021 and 2024.
The charges are related to Simon Ekpa’s efforts to establish Biafra as an independent country separating from Nigeria. Ekpa, who claims to lead the Biafra Republic’s government in exile was detained in November, and he has been in prison since them.
The prosecution claims Ekpa denied the charges and will remain in custody. Ekpa is a self-proclaimed Prime Minister of Biafra government in exile.
IPOB has been pushing for a peaceful referendum since the time its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is also incarcerated has found it. Many have callled for his release since courts have granted him unconditional release but the federal government of Nigeria refused.
The Nigerian government has confirmed Ekpa had indeed been charged in Finland.
