BREAKING: APC Governors Voice Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), comprising governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally endorsed the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma on Thursday made the declaration on behalf of the APC governors during a summit convened to review the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking, Governor Uzodimma noted that out of the 36 states in Nigeria, 22 are currently governed by the APC.

“It is indeed a privilege to address this very important summit, convened to evaluate the Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Uzodimma said.

He described the summit as a timely and commendable initiative that reflects the party’s commitment to measuring outcomes, correcting courses where necessary, and strengthening governance delivery.

Commending both the National Working Committee of the party and the President for their clarity of purpose and commitment, Uzodimma emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda is a robust framework designed to tackle Nigeria’s economic and social challenges, promote sustainable development, and enhance the welfare of all Nigerians.

According to him, the agenda, as detailed in the President’s 80-page policy document, presents a systematic approach to long-standing national challenges, offering clear priorities, actionable strategies, and measurable targets.

Governor Uzodimma highlighted several bold policy decisions taken by the Tinubu administration, including the removal of the petroleum subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange rate. These reforms, he said, have created the fiscal space for increased revenue, boosted investor confidence, and enabled expanded investments in infrastructure and human capital.

“There are clear signs of progress,” Uzodimma stated. “Fuel prices have stabilized, government revenues have improved across all tiers, inflationary pressures are easing, and investor confidence has returned. International institutions like the IMF and World Bank have acknowledged these positive outcomes and forecast a brighter economic outlook for Nigeria.”

The PGF chairman also cited ongoing infrastructural developments such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, and Second Niger Bridge access routes as key milestones under the Renewed Hope Administration.

He praised the administration’s tax reforms, innovation agenda, and landmark legislation such as the Electricity Act 2024, which empowers subnational governments in power generation and distribution.

Uzodimma reaffirmed the central role of social investments in the Renewed Hope Agenda, referencing the Student Loan Scheme, a N200 billion MSME fund, and increased agricultural financing as targeted interventions aimed at job creation, local productivity, and economic inclusion.

Capping his remarks, Uzodimma announced the governors’ unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu’s second-term bid.

“We are convinced that the economy is in better shape today than it was two years ago. Consequently, we, as leaders of the APC and heads of subnational governments, have resolved to throw our weight behind Mr. President and champion his re-election campaign in 2027,” he declared.

“With the dividends of his stellar performance and its profound impact at the state level, we are confident that victory will certainly be ours. The Progressive Governors will deliver on this commitment in the 2027 general election,” he affirmed.
