A high-level delegation from the Ministry, led by the Permanent Secretary, ESV Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, on Thursday, carried out an inspection visit to the Lagos State Industrial Leather Hub in Matori, as the facility approaches its final phase of completion ahead of commissioning by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The visit was aimed at assessing the level of progress made on-site, with special attention given to the installation of cutting-edge equipment intended to support large-scale leather production.
Speaking during the tour, the Permanent Secretary stressed the need for strict adherence to quality standards and timely delivery, highlighting the government’s commitment to excellence in infrastructure development.
The inspection team was received by Ms. Rukiye Sekin Plak, co-founder and General Manager of Elit Ayyakabi Consulting Firm, who conducted a guided tour of the facility. She assured the Ministry that the installation of equipment and final finishing works would be completed within the stipulated timeline.
Once fully operational, the Leather Hub is expected to play a pivotal role in job creation by offering employment opportunities to thousands of young people across Lagos State.
The hub will focus on the production of high-quality leather goods—such as shoes, bags, belts, and fashion accessories—positioning Lagos as a major player in the leather and creative manufacturing industries.
