In a strategic move to galvanize support ahead of the forthcoming Local Government Elections slated for July 12, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has inaugurated a 40-member campaign council.
The council was formally unveiled by the APC State Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, who described it as a bold step towards strengthening grassroots engagement and ensuring electoral victory.
The newly constituted council is chaired by Hon. Babatunde Balogun, a former State Chairman and former Commissioner for Home Affairs.
According to Ojelabi, Balogun’s leadership signifies the party’s commitment to effective coordination and inclusive representation.
The campaign structure comprises six directorates: Mobilization, Finance, Security, Media and Publicity, Electoral, and Special Duties. These directorates are headed by respected party stalwarts, namely:
- Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole (Mobilization),
- Hon. Olufemi Daramola (Finance),
- Dr. Razak Balogun (Security),
- Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo (Media and Publicity),
- Barr. Ademola Sadiq (Electoral), and
- Dr. Lateef Ibirogba (Special Duties).
To further consolidate regional coordination, Hon. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and Barr. Abimbola Saliu-Hundeyin has been appointed as coordinators for the Lagos West Senatorial District. Hon. Abayomi Daramola will oversee the Lagos Central District, while Chief (Mrs.) Bolanle Olusanya takes charge of the Lagos East District.
Ojelabi emphasized the importance of community engagement, urging the campaign council to mobilize support across all local government areas and effectively communicate the achievements of APC-led councils.
“Our goal is to inspire a strong voter turnout by reconnecting with the grassroots and reinforcing confidence in our party’s performance,” he said.
The campaign team includes a broad spectrum of stakeholders—women, youths, artisans, non-indigenous residents, members of the National and State Assemblies, State Cabinet members, and the APC State Executive—ensuring a wide representation of interests.
Looking beyond the July elections, the APC Chairman affirmed that the efforts will also lay the groundwork for success in the 2027 national elections.
“We are united in our mission to deliver victories that translate into tangible progress for the people of Lagos,” he concluded.
