In a series of proactive, intelligence-led operations, the Nigeria Police Force has made significant strides in its ongoing efforts to combat crime and insecurity across the country.

The operations, which spanned Delta and Kaduna States, resulted in the neutralisation and arrest of several criminal elements, recovery of stolen vehicles and firearms, and the disruption of notorious criminal syndicates.

On June 4, 2025, operatives of the Delta State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes and anti-cult volunteers, engaged suspected kidnappers operating along the Abraka Railway axis. Acting on credible intelligence, the team confronted the suspects in a gun duel, leading to the neutralisation of four kidnappers. An AK-47 rifle and thirteen rounds of live ammunition were recovered at the scene.

In a separate operation along the Ughelli-Patani Road, the Command’s CP-Special Assignment Team intercepted a shuttle bus near Ewhereni Junction. The suspects onboard opened fire upon sighting the police, prompting a swift response. Three of the suspects were neutralised in the exchange, and an AK-47 rifle loaded with eighteen rounds of live ammunition was recovered. Preliminary investigations indicate that the gang is part of a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating in Delta State.

In Kaduna State, the Police Command apprehended five suspects linked to an armed robbery syndicate that has long plagued communities in the state. The breakthrough followed the recovery of a Toyota Hilux, reported stolen on May 28, 2025, from the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja.

One of the suspects, Mohammed Kabir of Samaru Gusau, Zamfara State, was captured following a high-speed chase near Zaria. His arrest led to the recovery of an abandoned Toyota Camry along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. Further investigations led to the arrest of Emmanuel Oliseh, who stole a Honda CR-V from Abuja. Additionally, three suspects — Ibrahim Bala, Abdulsalam Abdullahi, and Abdulraman Muktar — were intercepted in a stolen Toyota Camry (1998 model), which they confessed was stolen from Nasarawa State.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, lauded the operatives for their swift and decisive actions. He emphasized that the success of these operations highlights the value of collaboration between the police and local security stakeholders in combating crime.

The IGP further called on the public to continue providing timely and actionable intelligence to law enforcement agencies, reinforcing the collective responsibility of ensuring national security.
