Tragedy Strikes Again in Mokwa as Famous Teacher Reportedly Stabbed to Death |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Mokwa community in Niger State has been thrown into mourning once again, following the tragic killing of a well-known and respected teacher, Mallam Mohammed Abubakar Tayi. He was reportedly stabbed to death on the night of Saturday, June 7, 2025, along Abattoir Road.

Mallam Tayi, described by many as a humble, kind, and disciplined man, was highly regarded by colleagues, students, and residents for his dedication to education and his warm personality. His untimely and violent death comes on the heels of a recent devastating flood that claimed several lives in the same community, deepening the collective grief of residents.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that the attack occurred late on Saturday night. According to the police, the 40-year-old teacher from the Rabba area of Mokwa was attacked by unknown assailants along the Abattoir/Agricultural School Road. He was fatally macheted, and his mobile phone along with a Bajaj motorcycle were stolen.

Police operatives from the Mokwa Division responded to the scene, and his body was taken to the General Hospital in Mokwa.

An investigation is currently ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

Residents of Mokwa continue to express shock and sorrow, remembering Mallam Tayi as a pillar of the community whose presence will be deeply missed.
