Governor Sanwo-Olu Urges Lagosians to Participate Peacefully in LG Elections |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on eligible voters across Lagos State to come out en masse for the local government elections scheduled to hold tomorrow, Saturday, July 12, 2025.

In a statewide message, the governor emphasized the importance of the local government as the closest tier of government to the people, playing a crucial role in service delivery and grassroots development.

He described the election as an opportunity for Lagosians to shape the leadership of their communities by voting for Chairmen and Councilors who will represent their interests.

“This election is not just a constitutional process; it is a powerful expression of your voice and your civic responsibility,” Sanwo-Olu said. “I urge every registered voter to go out peacefully tomorrow, cast your vote, and be a part of the democratic process that strengthens our communities and our state.”

To ensure the safety and credibility of the election, the governor disclosed that security agencies have been strategically deployed to polling units and communities across the state.

He assured voters that law enforcement officials would be on the ground to protect them, electoral personnel, and election materials.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), he said, has given assurances of its readiness to conduct a smooth and credible exercise.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also appealed to political stakeholders, candidates, and party agents to maintain decorum, uphold the rule of law, and ensure the elections are conducted peacefully and fairly.

He made a special appeal to the youth, urging them to reject violence and instead serve as ambassadors of peace and democratic responsibility.

“Lagos will continue to set the pace in democratic development,” the governor affirmed. “My administration remains committed to free, fair, and transparent elections that truly reflect the will of the people.”

He concluded by encouraging Lagosians to demonstrate once again the state’s reputation for peace, progress, and participatory governance.
