Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and opposition politicians in allied coalitions to remain committed to the party’s shared vision of unity, progress, and national development.
Speaking on Friday at the conclusion of the PDP South West Zonal Caucus meeting held in Ibadan, Governor Makinde urged coalition members particularly those who have distanced themselves from the party due to internal disagreements to return and work collectively toward rebuilding and strengthening the PDP.
“You can’t abandon your house because of a leaking roof,” the governor said, using the metaphor to emphasize the importance of resolving internal issues from within rather than walking away.
“The PDP is built on solid foundations. Like any structure, it may face wear and tear, but it is our collective responsibility to fix the leaks, strengthen the foundation, and ensure the house remains standing for the good of this country.”
Governor Makinde acknowledged the contributions and sacrifices of party members across all levels and reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with key stakeholders to secure the PDP’s success in future elections.

He stressed the need for collaboration, reconciliation, and steadfastness, calling on members to rise above temporary setbacks and recommit to the party’s long-term goals.
“Let us fix the roof together and keep this house strong for the future,” Makinde concluded.
The South West Zonal Caucus meeting brought together party leaders from across the region to deliberate on strategies for party cohesion and electoral success ahead of the next political cycle.
