While electoral activities gathered momentum in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area on Saturday morning, a different scene unfolded in neighbouring Alimosho, where some youths turned the normally busy Agbelekale-Command Road into an improvised football pitch.
The development came amid strict enforcement of the government’s movement restriction directive, aimed at ensuring a smooth and peaceful conduct of the local government elections across Lagos State.
As at about 9:20 a.m., Lagos Eye News observed a group of young people engaged in a spirited football match on the deserted road, clearly taking advantage of the limited vehicular activity caused by the restriction order.
Meanwhile, in Oshodi-Isolo LGA, the voting process was already taking shape as electoral officers and ad-hoc staff of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) arrived at polling units across communities such as Bolade, Ewutuntun, Arowojobe, Mafoluku, Shogunle, and Wards Seven and Eight.
Officials were seen setting up voting materials and preparing the polling environments ahead of the electorate’s arrival. Voters were also spotted forming early queues in anticipation of the exercise.

Election materials had earlier been distributed from the LASIEC office in Bolade to the seven wards within the council area, with reports indicating a smooth and timely process, devoid of any delays or missing items.
Security presence was visibly heightened in Oshodi-Isolo, with patrol vehicles stationed at strategic points to maintain law and order. Compliance with the restriction order was evident, as parks, markets, and major bus stops remained largely deserted.
Lagos Eye News will continue to monitor and report updates from various polling areas across Lagos as the election progresses.
