Less than two months after lifting the UEFA Conference League trophy, Chelsea have added another major honour to their cabinet this time claiming the FIFA Club World Cup title with a resounding 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
Despite going into the match as underdogs especially after PSG’s dominant semifinal win over Real Madrid, the Premier League side silenced the doubters with a commanding first-half performance that ultimately sealed the title.
England international Cole Palmer was the star of the show, scoring twice and providing an assist. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award and took his season tally to 18 goals for Chelsea.
As the final whistle blew, jubilant scenes unfolded at the stadium. Chelsea players and staff poured onto the pitch, many sporting shirts emblazoned with “World Champions” on the back, celebrating their historic triumph on the global stage.
Financial Rewards
Chelsea’s total prize money from the Club World Cup amounted to $85.625 million, boosted by performance-based earnings across each round. In addition, the club is estimated to have received between $25 million and $35 million as a participation bonus, although FIFA has not disclosed the exact figure. In total, Chelsea are believed to have earned over $110 million from the tournament.
PSG, despite finishing as runners-up, did not walk away empty-handed. The French champions received $75.625 million, including $30 million for reaching the final. They are also thought to have received a similar participation bonus as Chelsea, bringing their overall earnings to over $100 million.
