Abia State witnessed scenes of excitement as Governor Alex Chioma Otti, popularly known as the Ekwueme Governor, fulfilled his pledge to support education by approving the payment of ₦25,000 orientation training allowances to 5,394 newly recruited teachers in the state.
The gesture, according to observers, goes beyond financial assistance. It underscores the governor’s commitment to reviving the education sector and stimulating economic growth through strategic investment in human capital. By injecting millions of naira into the system, the state not only empowers its teachers but also boosts purchasing power and circulation of money within local communities.
Education stakeholders have described the recruitment and allowance payment as a landmark initiative that will help reduce unemployment, strengthen public schools with fresh manpower, and improve the quality of teaching and learning across the state.
Governor Otti has repeatedly emphasized education as a priority for his administration. This latest step, many believe, is another indication of his resolve to reposition Abia State on the path of sustainable growth and development.
Residents, in their excitement, continue to hail him with chants of: “Ekwueme Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, carry go!”
