The Kwara State Police Command has refuted claims circulating on social media that a female police officer serving in the state was kidnapped and murdered.
In a statement on Saturday signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the Command described the report as false, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary panic among residents.
The statement emphasized that there is no record of any female officer missing or abducted in any division within the state, adding that there is no police station known as Ogidi Division in Kwara State as claimed in the viral posts.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi said the Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, is working closely with other security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
She called on residents to disregard the misleading report and always verify information before sharing, noting that unverified social media posts could undermine public confidence and disrupt peace.
The PPRO reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to transparency and effective communication with the public, urging residents to follow official police channels on X, Facebook, and WhatsApp for accurate updates.
