The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has lauded one of its officers, Officer Muibi Ademola (Bravo 27), for his exemplary display of integrity, discipline, and professionalism after he refused a ₦20,000 monetary offer from a motorist at the Ago–Ibiwoye axis of Okota, Lagos.
According to a report published in The Nation newspaper on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 (page 23), a motorist had drawn Officer Ademola’s attention to a developing traffic gridlock in the area. Demonstrating promptness and dedication, the officer swiftly responded and successfully restored order within a short time.
Impressed by his efficiency, the motorist reportedly offered him ₦20,000 as a token of appreciation. However, Officer Ademola courteously declined, stating that he was only performing his official duty for which he receives adequate remuneration from the Lagos State Government.
Reacting to the incident, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended Officer Ademola for his outstanding conduct, describing it as a testament to professionalism, integrity, and commitment to ethical values.
He noted that such behaviour not only boosts public confidence in LASTMA but also reflects the agency’s renewed culture of transparency and accountability under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
Mr. Bakare-Oki emphasized that Officer Ademola’s action embodies the moral reawakening being promoted by the current management to restore public trust and dignity in traffic law enforcement across Lagos State.
He urged all LASTMA personnel to emulate the officer’s example by upholding honesty, fairness, and dedication to duty. The General Manager reiterated the agency’s commitment to recognizing officers whose conduct enhances the institution’s image and aligns with the Lagos State Government’s integrity-driven governance.
Mr. Bakare-Oki further reaffirmed LASTMA’s focus on continuous training, ethical reorientation, and capacity development to strengthen discipline, civility, and operational excellence among its workforce.
