The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has arrested six individuals for illegally dumping refuse on road medians and other unauthorized locations in the Meiran area of Alagbado, Lagos.
The arrests followed a night-to-morning surveillance operation carried out on Tuesday by the LAWMA Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team.
The operation was initiated in response to persistent complaints from Meiran residents about indiscriminate waste disposal within the community.
According to LAWMA, the suspects were apprehended while depositing waste at an unauthorized spot. They have been handed over to the agency’s legal unit for immediate prosecution.
Authorities also confirmed that all identified blackspots in the area have been cleared and brought under control to prevent further environmental violations.

LAWMA urged Lagosians to adhere to proper waste disposal guidelines and report illegal dumping activities to help maintain a cleaner, healthier environment.
