The Federal Government has sealed off two factories in Ogun State, True Metals Nigeria Ltd. and Phoenix Steel Mills Ltd. over what officials described as gross violations of workplace safety standards.
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, ordered the immediate closure of the facilities following an impromptu inspection that uncovered dangerous working conditions and compromised infrastructure.
Onyejeocha said the action underscores the government’s resolve to enforce labour and safety regulations, stressing that the protection of workers’ lives remains a top priority.
She warned that any organisation found endangering employees would face similar sanctions.
