Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Illiya Damagum, on Tuesday formally handed over the party’s leadership to the newly constituted National Working Committee (NWC) led by Tanimu Turaki.
The transition comes as the tenure of the immediate past NWC is set to expire on December 8, amid an ongoing legal tussle involving the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The handover ceremony took place at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja and was witnessed by several former members of the NWC.
Speaking at the event, Damagum said the new NWC has been entrusted with the critical task of repositioning and uniting the party.
