The Kwara State Government has approved the appointment of Prince Muftau Bayo Shaba, a 55-year-old senior officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), as the new Elesa of Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The announcement was contained in a statement on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Abdullahi Abubakar Bata.
According to the commissioner, Prince Shaba, who hails from the Adeogun Ruling House, emerged after the Oke-Ode kingmakers unanimously recommended him, adding that the state government only acted after the completion of all statutory procedures.
The new Elesa succeeds Oba Abdulkadir Adelodun, who died in 2023.
Bata added that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will on Wednesday present the traditional ruler with his Staff of Office and Certificate of Appointment at a brief ceremony.
