Oyo PDP Members Dominate Osun Governorship Primaries, Eyewitnesses Confirm |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held on Thursday in Osogbo, Osun State, were largely dominated by members of the party from neighbouring Oyo State, findings by our correspondents have revealed.

Eyewitnesses at the venue reported that several buses loaded with PDP members were seen entering Osun State from the Iwo and Ikire axes between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

Many of the buses were said to have stopped at Adolak Hotel, the designated venue of the congress.

Observations inside the hall indicated the near absence of Osun PDP members. Instead, it was noted that an Ibadan-based zonal youth leader of the PDP coordinated the mobilization of the Oyo delegates for the Osun primaries.

Interviews conducted with several attendees further confirmed that a significant number of those present were from Oyo State, with some openly admitting they had been recruited to participate in the congress.

Our correspondents also observed the presence of police officers from Oyo State who provided security for the mobilised party members.

However, some political thugs were reportedly arrested at the venue. They allegedly confessed that they were mobilised from the Oyo State Government House for the exercise.

Speaking on the development, a party chieftain from Oyo State who was also at the venue explained the rationale behind the unusual mobilisation.

“Osun PDP did not conduct the mandatory three ad-hoc delegates required to vote at the congress,” the party leader said. “So we filled the vacancies with our people from Oyo State. We cannot allow PDP to die here. That is why we had to mobilise.”
