Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued Reverend Ephraim Yakubu, who was abducted on December 3 along Rukuba Road in Plateau State.
According to military sources, the clergyman was discovered in the Miango area, where he had been tied and hidden beneath a rock formation.
The rescue followed a fierce exchange of gunfire between troops and the kidnappers.
Reverend Yakubu sustained injuries during the ordeal and is currently receiving treatment at the 3 Division Military Hospital and Medical Services (3 DMSH).
During the operation, troops recovered a fabricated rifle and eight rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The kidnappers fled the scene and are currently being pursued by security operatives.
The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down the culprits and ensuring safety within the region.
