President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded two lists containing a total of 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
The nominees comprise 34 career diplomats and 31 non-career individuals, cutting across various fields of expertise and public service backgrounds.
Prominent names on the non-career ambassadors’ list include former presidential aide Reno Omokri, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former Chief of Army Staff Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd.), former Abia State governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and former Enugu State governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Also featured among the non-career nominees are Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Vice Admiral Ete Ibas (rtd.), Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Senator Nora Daduut, Fatima Ajimobi, and Senator Ita Enang, among others.
With the latest transmission, the total number of ambassadorial nominees currently before the Senate stands at 65, all awaiting legislative screening and confirmation.
