Gov Adeleke Relaxes Igbajo Curfew, Orders Continuous 24-Hour Security Surveillance |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has approved the relaxation of the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on Igbajo, Boluwaduro Local Government Area, following last week’s breakdown of law and order.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the curfew now runs from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily, with immediate effect.

Governor Adeleke expressed satisfaction with the “gradual return of peace and order” in the ancient community, noting that recent security briefings show significant improvement. He, however, condemned the disturbances that necessitated the initial total lockdown, urging residents to embrace calm and unity.

“I am happy and elated, to a large extent, over the new security report that I received stating that law and order is gradually coming back to Igbajo,” the Governor said in the statement. “Premised on this, I formally direct that the hitherto 24-hour curfew I earlier imposed be relaxed to 10 hours.”

Despite the adjustment, Governor Adeleke directed security agencies—including the Army, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)—to maintain a 24-hour presence in the town until full and verified peace is restored.

The unrest in Igbajo reportedly followed tensions that trailed the announcement of the death of Prince Gboyega Famodun. The Governor appealed to all natives and residents to continue supporting efforts to restore harmony.

Adeleke also expressed appreciation to the community for its cooperation and renewed commitment to peace.
