The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, in response to community insecurity, led a delegation of security operatives to Agamo over the murder of a traditional ruler.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ondo State Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, in a statement on Friday, indicated that the State Command reiterated its sustained commitment to crime prevention and the protection of lives and property through continuous patrols, intelligence-led operations, and strategic deployments in vulnerable areas.
The PPRO said that on 19th February, 2026, the Commissioner of Police led a high-powered delegation of heads of security agencies, including the Commander, 32 Brigade Artillery of Nigeria Army; the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC; and the Director, Department of State Services, DSS, to the scene of the tragic incident at Agamo Town, where Oba Kehinde Jacob Faledon was attacked on 18th February, 2026, at about 7:10 p.m.
The PPRO maintained that after an on-the-spot assessment, CP Lawal proceeded to the palace of the deceased monarch, where he condoled with the family and the entire community over the unfortunate incident.
He assured them that the Command, in synergy with other security agencies, would spare no effort in ensuring that the perpetrators are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice.
According to the PPRO, “preliminary investigations revealed that approximately six masked armed men stormed the residence of the monarch, forcibly abducted the monarch from his compound, and violently attacked him, leading to his death.”
The Commissioner of Police, consequently, ordered immediate deployment of additional security personnel and operational assets to the community, including the Command’s Tactical Teams, with a clear mandate to track down and apprehend the suspects.
