NANS Pledges Support After Hostel Fire at Osun State Polytechnic |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Osun Axis, has expressed sympathy to students affected by a recent hostel fire at Osun State Polytechnic.

In a statement issued on behalf of the association, the Osun Axis leadership, led by Comrade Solomon Abel Ayobami, described the incident as unfortunate and acknowledged the trauma and losses suffered by the affected students.

The student body said it stands in solidarity with the victims, noting that as an organisation committed to the welfare of Nigerian students, it would not leave those impacted to face the aftermath alone.

NANS JCC Osun Axis announced plans to immediately open discussions with the management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, to address the situation.

According to the statement, the discussions will focus on ensuring that victims receive support to recover and replace vital academic documents lost in the fire. The association is also seeking the provision of welfare assistance to cushion the immediate hardship experienced by affected students.

In addition, the leadership said it would advocate for improved safety and preventive measures to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.

The association confirmed that the engagement would be carried out in collaboration with the institution’s Student Union President and executive members.

NANS reiterated its commitment to service, advocacy and the protection of students’ rights across campuses in Osun State.

The group also called on key stakeholders including the institution’s management, relevant government agencies and members of the public to provide relief and assistance to those affected.
