LAWMA Launches ‘Show Your PSP Payment Receipt’ Enforcement in Apapa-Iganmu |LAGOS EYE NEWS
The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) says it will begin a targeted enforcement drive in the Apapa-Iganmu area of Lagos aimed at improving compliance with waste collection payments.
The initiative, tagged “Show Your PSP Payment Receipt”, will require residents and businesses to present proof of payment to their assigned Private Sector Participant (PSP) waste operators.
Speaking during a monitoring exercise along the Lagos-Badagry transit corridor on Saturday, LAWMA’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the operation was designed to address indiscriminate waste disposal by verifying property-level compliance.
He said officials would conduct routine checks on residential and commercial premises to confirm registration and payment status with PSP operators.
According to Mr Gbadegesin, the exercise is intended to identify properties without valid waste collection arrangements and to close service gaps that contribute to illegal dumping and the emergence of refuse blackspots.
He described environmental sanitation as a shared responsibility, adding that consistent waste collection depended on both residents fulfilling their payment obligations and operators delivering efficient services.
Residents and business owners in Apapa-Iganmu have been urged to regularise their PSP payments and ensure proper waste storage practices ahead of the commencement of the enforcement campaign.
