APC Natl Chairman Inaugurates Governing Council of The Progressive Institute |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a major step in strengthening its policy and ideological framework with the formal inauguration of the Governing Council of The Progressive Institute (TPI).

In a statement released on Monday APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda announced that he personally inaugurated the council at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, in the presence of members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

The inauguration marks the completion of TPI’s governance structure, building on the institute’s initial unveiling in September 2024 under the leadership of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Established under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, The Progressive Institute is designed to serve as the APC’s intellectual and policy hub. The institute is tasked with deepening ideological foundations, enhancing research, and promoting evidence-based governance across Nigeria’s political landscape.

Fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and approved by both the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the institute demonstrates the party’s commitment to transparency, institutional integrity, and the rule of law.

The Chairman said the key mandates of The Progressive Institute include: Conducting policy research and publishing findings, Organizing national and international conferences and trainings, Building leadership and institutional capacity within the party, Strengthening ideology, governance, and democratic culture, Serving as the APC’s institutional memory

As Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Yilwatda assured Nigerians of the party’s commitment to developing TPI into a world-class political and policy institution. He congratulated council members on their appointments and commended their dedication to advancing the progressive agenda.

Professor Yilwatda also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and to Dr. Ganduje for laying the foundation for the institute. “Together, we are building ideas, institutions, and leadership for today and for the future,” he stated.
