Lagos Govt Names New SLGs, Councillors for 57 Local Councils |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Lagos State Government has released the list of Secretaries to the Local Governments (SLGs) and Supervisory Councillors across the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

The announcement is part of efforts to strengthen grassroots governance and ensure a seamless transition following recent changes in council leadership. According to the state authorities, the appointments are aimed at reinforcing administrative stability and enhancing service delivery at the local level.

The newly appointed officials are scheduled to be sworn in on March 2, 2026. The development underscores the state government’s commitment to consolidating local administration structures and promoting effective governance across communities.

Once inaugurated, the SLGs and Supervisory Councillors are expected to play key roles in driving community engagement, implementing policies, and advancing developmental initiatives within their respective councils.

Community leaders and party stakeholders have congratulated the appointees, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them. They called on the officials to work collaboratively with their respective Council Chairmen, contribute meaningfully to governance, and sustain the development strides recorded in the state.

For Lagos State, the focus remains on translating political appointments into measurable governance outcomes that will positively impact residents and further strengthen its standing as one of Nigeria’s most structured subnational governments, the statement said.
