OGUN LAWMAKERS BACK TINUBU FOR SECOND TERM, ENDORSE YAYI FOR GOVERNOR |LAGOS EYE NEWS

No fewer than 20 members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring their unequivocal support for his second term bid.

The lawmakers, who identify as Progressives within the 26-member Assembly, made their position known on Wednesday in a move that aligns with the stance of the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement jointly signed, the legislators cited President Tinubu’s bold economic reforms and infrastructural strides as compelling grounds for their endorsement, insisting that the administration has demonstrated uncommon courage in repositioning Nigeria’s battered economy.

According to them, Mr. President has shown tremendous commitment to stabilising our economy through far-reaching fiscal reforms. The road construction projects linking key economic corridors across this country speak volumes,” one of the lawmakers said.

In the same breadth, the Assembly members declared their backing for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun as the next governor of Ogun State.

The legislators described the former Ogun West senator as a thoroughbred lawmaker whose track record of competence, diligence, and grassroots delivery more than qualifies him for the governorship seat, pointing to his sterling performance in committee leadership, robust constituency projects, and tireless advocacy for developmental initiatives at the federal level.

“We are also using this opportunity to declare our unalloyed support for the gubernatorial bid of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi). Senator Adeola is a seasoned legislator whose record in the National Assembly has consistently reflected competence, diligence, and a deep commitment to the welfare of the people.

The Honourable members equally rallied behind Governor Dapo Abiodun for any future political role he may seek upon completing his tenure, commending his stewardship and noting that his wealth of governance experience remains an invaluable asset to the APC family at higher levels of leadership.

The lawmakers, who reiterated their unalloyed loyalty to the ruling APC, pledged to continue standing with leaders whose vision and performance remain anchored to the collective aspirations of Ogun State people and Nigerians at large.
