The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, alongside the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has undertaken an operational assessment visit to Maiduguri following recent suicide bomb incidents in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
During the visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command of Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, the defence chiefs addressed officers and troops at the Maimalari Cantonment.
In his remarks, General Oluyede commended the troops for their resilience and sustained operational pressure against terrorist elements across the theatre. He urged personnel to remain committed and resolute in the discharge of their duties, directing commanders to intensify offensive operations, strengthen intelligence frameworks, and adopt proactive strategies to dominate the battlespace.
The CDS further assured troops of continued strategic support from Defence Headquarters to enhance ongoing operations.
Similarly, Lieutenant General Shaibu praised the troops for their unwavering dedication and persistent pressure on insurgents. He charged field commanders to sustain the momentum of ongoing offensives and adopt a firm “never again” posture aimed at denying terrorist elements any operational foothold.
The Army Chief also assured the Theatre Command of additional support and critical resources to boost operational effectiveness, strengthen force protection, and reinforce intensified military operations across the theatre.
