The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, has prohibited the display of political banners and the wearing of clothing or caps bearing party logos during Eid prayers scheduled for Thursday across Osogbo.
The directive, announced through the Asiwaju of Osogbo land, Justice Moshood Adeigbe, also includes a ban on political discussions at all Eid prayer grounds in the town.
According to the monarch, the decision followed consultations involving the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasahun, alongside security agencies and representatives of political parties in Osun State.
Oba Oyetunji said the measures were necessary to maintain peace and order during the religious gathering.
He warned that security agencies had been directed to take decisive action against anyone violating the directive.
“All Muslims attending Eid-el-Fitr prayers this year in Osogbo must refrain from wearing clothing or caps with political party emblems, displaying posters, or engaging in political discussions at prayer grounds,” the statement said.
The monarch also announced a ban on drummers at the venues.
The restrictions apply to all Eid prayer grounds in Osogbo, with authorities warning that offenders risk arrest.
