The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Lagos State election, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has presented the official results of the party’s gubernatorial primary election to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Hamzat disclosed that he visited the President alongside his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, to formally submit the results following his emergence as the APC flagbearer for the 2027 governorship race.
Speaking on Saturday, Hamzat expressed gratitude to party members and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing his nomination as both an honour and a significant responsibility.
“I remain deeply grateful for the trust placed in me. Securing the party’s nomination for the 2027 governorship election is both an honour and a profound responsibility,” he said.
The APC candidate reiterated his commitment to sustaining Lagos State’s growth and development, stressing the need to create opportunities for residents, strengthen businesses, and improve living standards across the state.
According to him, the support received from party members and residents would serve as motivation to deliver meaningful progress and inclusive governance.
Hamzat added that the journey towards the 2027 election would be focused on transforming shared aspirations into tangible benefits for all Lagosians.
LAGOS EYE NEWS reports that the Lagos State Deputy Governor emerged victorious after polling 657,917 votes, with the APC returning officer declaring him the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Recall, the Lagos APC’s Governance Advisory Council (GAC) had earlier adopted Hamzat as its consensus governorship candidate, a move later endorsed by President Tinubu ahead of the party primary.
