In a major security operation, Ogun State Police Command has deployed surveillance drones and tactical squads to fortify the Sagamu Interchange following circulating security concerns.
Commissioner of Police CP Lanre Ogunlowo, personally led aerial surveillance that exposed illegal structures and unauthorized activities at the busy transport hub.
The two-hour drone mission revealed clusters of illegal shanties and rogue revenue collection points operating around the interchange. In swift response, police have stationed elite units including the Quick Intervention Squad, OP Mesa operatives and Mobile Police Squadrons at all four intersection points and beneath the bridge.
Authorities have ordered immediate clearance of all unauthorized structures beginning Wednesday, April 3, with a complete ban on commercial activities under the bridge. Transport unions have been directed to relocate operations to more secure, well-lit zones as part of the safety overhaul.
While confirming no formal reports supported recent social media rumors of security breaches, police urged commuters to limit night time travel through the area as a precautionary measure.
The Command assured residents of sustained surveillance and patrols in collaboration with sister security agencies.
“The safety of Ogun residents remains our top priority,” stated CSP Omolola Odutola, Police Public Relations Officer.
“We’re deploying all necessary resources to maintain our state’s peace.”
