No fewer than six persons have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a tragic road accident involving an 18-seater commercial bus along the outbound section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, opposite the Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Church, on Saturday.
The fatal crash, which occurred in the early hours of the day, caused a major traffic gridlock, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded for hours as emergency responders battled to clear the wreckage and rescue those affected.
As of the time of filing this report, operatives of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), the Nigeria Police, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were on ground coordinating rescue efforts and managing the aftermath of the accident.
Emergency teams continue to work tirelessly to extricate those trapped and provide urgent medical attention to the injured.
Authorities have yet to release the official cause of the accident as investigations are ongoing.
