The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a baby factory in the Ijegun area of the state, rescuing ten individuals, including three children, and arresting three suspects in connection with the illegal operation.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this to journalists on Monday. According to him, the illicit activity came to light following a tip-off received by the police last Saturday.
Acting swiftly on the information, officers raided the premises and apprehended the alleged operator of the baby factory, 35-year-old Mariam Vincent. Two other suspects, identified as Orie Ruth, 23, and Ujunwa Ifeanyi, 18, were also arrested during the operation.
Among those rescued were seven adult women and three children aged seven, five, and two.
Hundeyin stated that investigations are ongoing, and the rescued victims are currently receiving necessary care and support.
