NYSC DG Rejoices With Gen Tsiga Over His Release From Captivity |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Director General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, has expressed joy and gratitude to God for the safe release of Brigadier General Maharazu Ismaila Tsiga (rtd) from captivity.

Brigadier General Tsiga, a former Director General of NYSC, was kidnapped from his country home in Katsina State by bandits who have been terrorising the Northern parts of Nigeria with rampant kidnappings, killings and other dastardly acts.

The incumbent Chief Executive of the NYSC said this when he paid a celebratory and solidarity visit to the erstwhile Director General of the Scheme in Abuja, where he is recovering from the traumatic experience.

General Nafiu said the visit was not only to express personal joy but to convey the relief and happiness of Corps Members, NYSC Staff, and the Scheme’s other stakeholders nationwide.

He further expressed thanks to God Almighty for sparing General Tsiga’s life as well as enabling him to be reunited with his family, associates, and loved ones, including the NYSC family.

Responding, Brigadier General Tsiga congratulated Brigadier General Nafiu on his recent appointment as the Director General of NYSC, which took place while he was in the kidnappers’ den.

Tsiga commended the incumbent NYSC Chief for the solidarity visit and expressed profound appreciation to the entire NYSC family for their prayers for his safe release, adding that God had heard all the prayers offered for his safe release.

He wished General Nafiu a successful tenure of office. General Tsiga was taken from his home in Katsina and held for about 2 months along with other captives. He, along with 18 others, were recently rescued by a combined team of Nigerian security operatives.
