Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has awarded ₦10 million to Miss Isioma Sybil Nwosu, the overall best graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2023/2024 academic session. Nwosu, from the Department of Biochemistry, earned a CGPA of 4.93.
The announcement was made during LASU’s 28th Convocation Ceremony, held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo. Represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu praised Nwosu’s academic excellence and urged students to follow her example.
The event also saw 11,917 graduates awarded various degrees, while Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) and Otunba Femi Pedro received honorary doctorates for their contributions to national development. Prof. Joseph Olagunju was conferred with the title of Distinguished Professor.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to educational development through initiatives like Job Initiative Lagos (JIL), aimed at improving graduate employability.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello highlighted recent achievements, including the accreditation of 43 academic programmes and the launch of international postgraduate STEM programmes.
