NURTW Lagos Chairman Hosts Assaulted Female Driver |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle Adio, popularly known as Tafa Sego, on Monday received Miss Yetunde Amole, the female driver recently seen being assaulted by a tout in a viral video from the Ajah area of Lagos.

The meeting took place at the union’s headquarters in Oko Oba, Agege, where Alhaji Sego strongly condemned the assault and distanced the NURTW from the incident. He clarified that the assailant was not a member of the union but a known area boy unaffiliated with the NURTW.

Miss Amole was warmly received at the premises and ushered into the chairman’s office, where Alhaji Sego suspended all other engagements to honour her visit. He encouraged her to continue discharging her duties with dedication, assuring her of the union’s protection.

“No member of our union will harass or intimidate you. We are committed to professionalism and respectful conduct in all public engagements,” he said.

The chairman emphasized that the NURTW has consistently trained its members to uphold discipline and responsibility in their interactions with the public. He commended the Lagos State Government and the Police Command for the swift arrest of the suspect involved in the assault.

“We will ensure that Yetunde Amole gets justice. This case will serve as a strong deterrent to others who may wish to harass any law-abiding driver in the state,” Sego declared.

He also urged members of the public to respect the rights of commercial drivers, while warning union members against any conduct that could bring the NURTW into disrepute.

Alhaji Sego reiterated the union’s zero tolerance for harassment and pledged full cooperation with authorities in pursuit of justice.
