Authorities in Plateau State have confirmed an early morning attack on herders in the Shen Mountain area, resulting in the death of livestock and the disappearance of one herder.
Police received a distress call around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, reporting that suspected local residents ambushed the herders at about 2:30 a.m. while they were moving their cattle.
Two cows and three rams were killed in the incident, and one herder remains missing.
The Divisional Police Officer in Bukuru quickly deployed a patrol team to the scene to prevent further escalation.
A search operation is underway for the missing herder, while investigations continue to identify the attackers.
The police have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace in the area.
