Armed with 4,000 eggs and a truckload of sugar and cream, French pastry chefs completed a 121.8 metre (399 feet, eight inch) long strawberry cake which a Guinness World Records judge confirmed as the world’s longest ever.
Chef Youssef El Gatou brought together 20 others to make the 1.2 tonne masterpiece that took a week to make and was presented at an ice rink in the Paris suburb town of Argenteuil for residents to inspect.
The cake, which contained 350 kilogrammes of strawberries, overtook a 100.48m (329 ft 7 in) long effort made in the Italian town of San Mauro Torinese in 2019.
The logistics were so difficult that the team _”used blowtorches to heat the bowl”_ for the cream mix, the chef’s wife Nadia El Gatou said.
