The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has officially commissioned an Information Technology (IT) Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, naming it after Chief Onikepo Akande, a two-time Minister of the Federation.
The IT Centre is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at expanding digital access to citizens across the country.
In her address Senator Oluremi Tinubu said the initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for national development and improving the lives of Nigerians through enhanced digital infrastructure.
She also noted that the center that was third of its kind across the nation would serve as a significant tool for empowering communities, particularly women, enabling them to break traditional barriers and access new opportunities through ICT skills.
Delivering his goodwill message, the State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde, who urged governments at all levels to diversify their focus from Oil and invest Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Commended the initiative, pledging that the state would leverage on the IT Centre to maximize its benefits.
Also Speaking the wife of the State Governor, Mrs Tamunomini Makinde, appreciated Senator Tinubu for being supportive to the initiative, and for her commitment to improving the life of the citizens through the People’s oriented policy they put in place.
