Financial aid totaling over 7.9 million naira has been disbursed to families of nine police officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty in Oyo State.
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola coordinated the cheques distribution at the State Police Command Headquarters in Ibadan.
While addressing the next-of-kin of the deceased officers, the Commissioner of Police said the gesture was in recognition of the sacrifices made by the departed to keep society safe.
He stressed that though financial aid can never replace the deceased in the hearts of their loved ones, it is expected to help them navigate their grief at this difficult time.
He added that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun remains committed to the welfare of serving policemen.
CP Johnson Adenola also revealed that 7,076 families of fallen officers have received over 23.1 billion naira since assumption of office of Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun under the Group Life Assurance Scheme.
