The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of two cinematographers in a fatal auto accident.
The incident, which has sparked widespread grief among industry professionals and fans, occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to veteran Nollywood producer, Stanley Ontop, the deceased, identified as Onos and Gozie, lost their lives in a car crash while returning from a colleague’s wedding. Ontop shared the heartbreaking news via his Instagram page on Sunday.
He revealed that Onos was the Delta State Chairman of the Cinematographers Society of Nigeria (CSN), while Gozie was a respected cinematographer based in Asaba, Delta State.
In his emotional post, Ontop wrote:
“Black Sunday in Nollywood as we lost two crew members in an auto crash in PH while returning from one of their member’s weddings yesterday.
We lost the Delta State chairman of the Cinematographers Society of Nigeria (CSN), @onos14a. We also lost a very good and talented cinematographer in Asaba, Mr. @goz_man6.
I am heartbroken. Gozie, my friend and brother, may your souls rest in peace. This too shall pass. Ontop cares. Shalom!”
The tragic loss has sent shockwaves through the Nollywood community, with many colleagues and fans taking to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute to the departed filmmakers.
