Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his former Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Gboyega Soyannwo, as the state marks one year since his passing.
In a statement on Thursday, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the late Soyannwo as more than just a deputy, but also a brother, confidant, and a steadfast believer in the vision of a Greater Lagos.
“Gboyega was not only my Deputy Chief of Staff, but he was also my brother, an armour-bearer, a confidante, and a faithful believer in our collective dream of a Greater Lagos,” the governor stated.
He recalled Soyannwo’s quiet strength, dedication, and deep sense of duty, noting that he was always committed to the policies and initiatives designed to improve the lives of Lagosians.
“His presence is still felt in the work he left behind. I miss his calm perspective during difficult moments and his unwavering loyalty,” Sanwo-Olu added.
The governor also extended his thoughts and prayers to the late Soyannwo’s wife, Yewande, their children, and the entire Soyannwo family, praying for continued strength and comfort.
“Keep resting, Gboyega,” he concluded.
