The Lagos State Government has announced the restriction of working hours at building construction sites across the state to between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, disclosed this on Thursday during a media briefing in Alausa, Ikeja.
Dr. Olumide stated that the directive is aimed at safeguarding the environment, preventing building collapse, and promoting the overall well-being of residents.
He emphasized that all construction stakeholders are expected to comply strictly, warning that relevant government agencies would enforce adherence to the new regulation.
He, however, noted that concessions for construction activities outside the stipulated hours could be granted upon formal application, which would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Commissioner also urged residents to support the government’s efforts by reporting any construction site found violating the order.
