New NUT Branch Chairmen Emerge Across 16 LGAs In Kwara |LAGOS EYE NEWS

New branch chairmen have emerged in the 16 local government areas of Kwara State as the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) concluded its 2025 Branch Delegates Conference on Wednesday.

The conference, which was held simultaneously across all LGAs marked a significant moment of democratic renewal and grassroots engagement within the union.

In a statement issued by the Principal Assistant Secretary-General of the union, MONI Mike Modesty Itua, the exercise was described as “a significant moment of solidarity and democratic engagement,” reflecting the union’s ongoing commitment to promoting the welfare of teachers in the state.

Declaring the exercise open, the Kwara State NUT Chairman, Comrade Yusuf Wahab Agboola, highlighted the union’s achievements in improving the welfare and working conditions of its members.

He noted that while progress has been made, the union remains committed to sustained dialogue with the state government on unresolved matters affecting teachers.

Agboola also used the opportunity to spotlight the accomplishments of the Teachers ENDWELL Scheme a central element of the union’s Economic Miracle Agenda, which has disbursed over ₦600 million to retired teachers in the state between October 2022 and May 2025.

The newly elected chairmen, according to the union, are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the union’s future direction at the grassroots level and influencing its engagement with the Kwara State Government on educational and labour-related issues.
