The lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Nureni Akinsanya, has called on residents to continue promoting community peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding, and solidarity as critical pillars for sustainable development and progress.

He made the call in a statement released by his media office on Friday, in commemoration of the 2025 International Day of Living Together in Peace, themed: ‘Accelerate Action’.

Hon. Akinsanya, who also serves as the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts (Local), commended the residents of Mushin Constituency 1 for their exemplary display of peaceful coexistence despite differences in culture, language, and background.

“Though our constituency is widely recognized as a commercial nerve center in Lagos, where people from diverse tribes converge to trade and do business, we have continued to experience peaceful coexistence and remarkable progress. I sincerely commend our people for upholding this spirit. I urge them to continue nurturing and promoting peaceful relationships in all spheres of life,” he said.

The lawmaker emphasized that living together in peace is about embracing diversity, fostering mutual respect, and cultivating the ability to listen, understand, and appreciate one another.

“As we mark this year’s International Day of Living Together in Peace, let us redouble our efforts to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding, and solidarity within our communities. In doing so, we are laying the foundation for a sustainable and prosperous constituency, rooted in harmony and mutual respect,” he added.

Hon. Akinsanya further charged religious leaders, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth leaders, and other key stakeholders to imbibe and propagate the values of forgiveness, tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.

“Let us not relent in preaching and practicing these virtues at every opportunity, whether in religious gatherings, community meetings, schools, or social events. It is only through collective efforts that we can build and sustain the peaceful society we all desire,” he concluded.
