“I Know the Road, and We Will Lead You On,” Says Tinubu |LAGOS EYE NEWS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians of his commitment to national development, declaring that he “knows the road” and will lead the country to its promised land.

The President made this declaration on Thursday during his keynote address at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Policy Summit held in Abuja.

Reflecting on his administration’s journey so far, Tinubu affirmed his confidence and determination:

“I know the road. And we will lead you on. That promise… to the promised land. I’m already certain — I’m not turning back. I am sure of what I’m doing,” he stated.

The President emphasized the importance of unity and teamwork, noting that progress is only achievable through collective effort.

“All of us, working together as a team, make a difference. We must distinguish between what is and what should be. Let me reassure those who are new members of the progressive movement — you are part of our party. You belong here,” he said.

He acknowledged the efforts made within the first two years of his administration and highlighted the need for reflection and evaluation:

“We are evaluating the scorecard and reviewing how far we’ve come. Within just two years of this mandate, it’s a great joy for me to listen to the team and know that you remain resilient.”

On the state of democracy and political plurality, Tinubu warned against the dangers of a one-party system:

“A one-party system is not ideal. One party alone cannot drive the full aspirations of Nigerians. You must believe in Nigerians. You must believe in the people — not abandon ship without life jackets.”

He reiterated his belief in democracy and constitutional freedoms, saying:

“This is the essence of democracy. We are in a constitutional democracy. Do not forget: there is freedom of movement and freedom of association. These are not crimes.”

Encouraging citizens to remain hopeful, he declared:

“Welcome to the way forward. To the progressives. Let us sweep them clean!”

Tinubu also expressed gratitude to party members and supporters for their continued trust:

“I stand before you today with profound gratitude for the sacred mandate you entrusted to me these past two years. I thank you all for your steadfast support and belief in the grand vision we share to uplift our nation and renew hope for all.”

Addressing the broader economic outlook, the President affirmed the effectiveness of his administration’s policies:

“Two years ago, we embarked on this journey propelled by a surge of hope and enduring faith in Nigeria’s unity and progress. Together, we pledged to confront our national challenges head-on, to rebuild trust, restore prosperity, and revive our economy. And today, I am proud to affirm that our economic reforms are working.”

Tinubu urged Nigerians to take ownership of the nation’s future:

“This country is yours. Hold on to it firmly and with pride. This is the moment to correct, not to complain. Hope is standing right before you. Take hold of it. Nigeria will be industrialized. We will achieve our goals.”

He concluded with a call for continued faith in the APC and its mission:

“We have the mission. We own the mission. Some may blow it off — but not us. While I may not be able to offer political positions to everyone right now, be patient. Greater opportunities are coming. This is the party of your choice. The broom is our symbol. Sweep the doubt away. Be hopeful. Renew your hope. Embrace your children. Embrace life. Nigeria will be great.”

“We are truly grateful. I thank you all for your endorsement. God bless you.”
