The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has sealed the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office located in Zone 5, Abuja, over its failure to settle ground rent obligations spanning 25 years.
The enforcement action underscores the FCTA’s firm resolve to uphold land use and revenue laws within the Federal Capital Territory, irrespective of the status or identity of defaulters.
According to FCTA officials, several notifications were issued to the FIRS office to regularize its outstanding payments.
However, the agency allegedly failed to comply, prompting the administration to revoke its property rights.
Reaffirming its stance, the FCTA stated that no institution whether public or private will be exempted from adhering to ground rent regulations under its purview.
