Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to securing a brighter and more prosperous future for children in the state.
The governor made this known in a statement he personally signed to commemorate the 2025 Children’s Day celebration on Monday in Owerri, the state capital.
Uzodimma assured children across the state that both President Bola Tinubu and the state governors were determined to build a progressive nation with lasting development and abundant opportunities for the younger generation.
“The groundwork being laid for today’s children would ensure that one day, Nigerian children would inherit a prosperous and peaceful nation,” he said.
While acknowledging the current economic challenges, the governor urged children not to lose hope or succumb to despair.
He noted that ongoing economic reforms by the federal administration would ultimately strengthen the nation’s growth, particularly through investments in infrastructure such as roads, schools, and hospitals.
Highlighting strides made in Imo State, Uzodimma said his government had initiated efforts to revitalise the health and education sectors, which he described as critical to helping children grow, learn, and thrive.
He encouraged children to remain committed to their education and acquire valuable skills that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Furthermore, the governor warned against negative influences such as cultism, theft, and other harmful behaviours, urging children to stay focused on building a positive future.
Uzodimma also called on children to appreciate the sacrifices of their parents by showing love, respect, and obedience.
