IGP Commissions 50 Operational Vehicles for EOD-CBRN Unit |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday commissioned 50 cutting-edge operational vehicles for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit of the Nigeria Police Force.

The commissioning ceremony, held in Abuja, marks a significant step in the IGP’s ongoing efforts to enhance national safety and security through strategic investment in the Police Force’s operational capacity.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the vehicles are specially customised and fully equipped to meet modern security demands.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the EOD-CBRN Unit, a critical arm in the fight against terrorism and other emerging threats.

In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun praised the dedication and courage of the EOD-CBRN operatives and noted that the commissioning is part of broader reforms to reposition the Nigeria Police Force as a modern, technology-driven institution.

He reiterated the Force’s commitment to proactive threat mitigation, emphasizing that the new fleet will significantly improve the unit’s response time, efficiency, and overall effectiveness in handling explosive and CBRN-related incidents.

The IGP also expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his unwavering support and commitment to the continuous strengthening of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Nigeria Police Force, the IGP assured, remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property, enforce the law, and sustain peace and order across the nation.
